Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
This policy covers the games made by Ambiguous Games Inc. (“we”): Herdwise, Deepwell, Zenolith and Pesky Paperclip, and this website, ambiguous.com.
The short version
Our games don’t collect personal information. There are no accounts and no advertising tracking. Some of our games send us anonymous statistics about how the game is played, such as how long a level takes, so we can make the games better. You can turn this off in the game.
What the games store
Your progress, settings and scores are saved on your device, inside the game. They stay there and are deleted when you delete the game. If your device backs up to iCloud or your computer, Apple includes this data in those backups under Apple’s privacy policy; we can’t see it.
Anonymous play statistics
Pesky Paperclip, and other games of ours as they are updated, send anonymous statistics about play. We use them only to tune the games: to see whether a level is too hard or too easy, whether the clock is fair, which features get used and whether players come back.
- What’s sent: what happens in the game, such as levels started, won or left, how long they took, moves and hints used, and in-game rewards earned or spent; a random ID created when the game is first opened; the game’s version; the device model and iOS version; and a rough location (country or region).
- What isn’t: your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, Apple ID or advertising identifier. The random ID isn’t linked to you or to other apps, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the game or turn the statistics off.
- Who processes it: Google Analytics for Firebase, a service run by Google, which receives the statistics on our behalf, as described in Firebase’s privacy information. We have turned off Google’s advertising features, and the statistics aren’t used for advertising.
- How long it’s kept: up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Turning it off: in Pesky Paperclip, open the ⋯ menu and turn off Share play statistics. Nothing more is sent, and statistics waiting on your device are deleted.
What we don’t do
- We don’t ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos or any other personal information.
- We don’t use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and we don’t sell or share data.
- The games don’t need an internet connection to play.

Children
Our games are suitable for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous play statistics are used only to run and improve the games, never for advertising or to build a profile of anyone.
Changes
If a future version of a game adds something else that uses data, such as advertising, in-app purchases, leaderboards or iCloud sync, we’ll update this page before that version is released and change the date above.
